06:47 PM- indian jewelry / seventh heaven [free gold!] on the girlgang label. Local act that is getting some national attention. Think Explosions in the Sky meets Spiritualized. This track is a reverb heavy instrumental that plods along and later becomes deconstructed.
06:45 PM- snuffy jenkins / watermelon hangin’ on a vine [pioneer of bluegrass] on the arhoolie label.
06:40 PM- tar water / song of the moth [animals, suns and atoms] on the kitty-yo label.

06:37 PM- lexie mountain boys, the / catcall [sacred vacation] on the carpark records label.
06:32 PM- bring back the guns / the family name [dry futures] on the feow label. Local act with members formerly of Groceries and Matt & Mossy. This is rawk. Driving percussion tries to reign in shrieking vocals and guitar that is just all over the place.
06:29 PM- bernard falaise / fete [clic] on the actuellecd label. Mais Oui, French electro jazz from a Quebecer. To me it sounds carnival-esque, like something from a Tim Burton flick (Danny Elfman, is that you?).

06:13 PM- god head silo / friendship village [elephantitus of the night] on the kill rock stars label.

06:05 PM- chris mcgregor’s brotherhood of breath / nick tete [eclipse at dawn] on the cuneiform label. The mixed race ensemble Blue Notes was exiled from South Africa in the 70s and found their way to Europe. There they teamed up with local jazz acts to form the Brotherhood of Breath. This is big band swing with some african percussion, how could that be a bad thing?
